Thinking of a Holiday near Burnham Market?

This area has long been a favourite of visitors to North Norfolk and there are lots of lovely holiday cottages near Burnham Market to choose from.  Alongside Burnham itself, there are quite a few lovely villages within easy reach that offer their own unique and charming base for your Norfolk adventure.

However, if you want to be at the fashionable heart of just about everything, Burnham Market is for you. Often nicknamed Chelsea-by-the-Sea, there are some fabulous boutiques, interior shops and eateries in the village.

Around the pretty village green, are set very pretty brick & flint cottages and a number of the shops and eateries.

Situated a couple of miles inland, the village is so handy for the beaches at HolkhamWells, Brancaster and more.

Foodies are well catered for with The Hoste Inn – which also has a luxurious spa.  Socius has countless fans for its Norfolk tapas.

Deli lovers are in for a treat at the Tuscan Farm Shop, which offers wonderful oils and wines from its Italian estate.

Fashionistas enjoy Anna’s, Percy Langley, Joules, Aurina and Gun Hill and well, we could go on – this is a shopper’s paradise!

There are six Burnhams in all!  All of which have their own unique charm.  Alongside the popular villages of South Creake, North Creake and Docking.  All of which boast pretty holiday cottages near Burnham Market itself.

Second, is popular Burnham Overy Staithe is a watery paradise and said to be where Lord Nelson learnt to sail. The Hero pub is a great meeting place for sailors and tourists alike.

During the summer, there is ferry service out to Scolt Head Island, a National Nature Reserve, which has more than a touch of Treasure Island about it.

Look out for the windmill and some 18th century mill buildings on the village outskirts.

Third up, Burnham Deepdale, which really runs into Brancaster Staithe, is another little shopping hub.  Dalegate Market has a petrol station, mini supermarket, a great cafe and a huddle of independent shops.

Fourth in line, Burnham Thorpe is where Nelson was born so it’s no surprise that the newly renovated pub is called The Lord Nelson.

Fifth is Burnham Norton is a quiet village, on the edge of Norton Marsh, which is rich in bird life.

Finally, number six, is little Burnham Overy Town is an unspoilt hamlet with a fine medieval church.

North Creake is home to the ruins of Creake Abbey, a 14th century Augustine priory. Beside the priory, there is now also a thriving farm shop, with a great food hall and cafe, plus several shops in converted farm buildings.

In addition, this lovely spot has a popular monthly farmers’ market, which offers something for everyone.

Further inland but still within four miles of the coast lies Docking.

A larger village, Docking has many attractive houses and a weekly market on Wednesdays.

Furthermore, the highly recommended Duck Inn is in next door village, Stanhoe.  Where Ben Handley cooks exquisitely.
