Cley Beach

Bordering one of the best bird watching reserves in the UK, the Norfolk Wildlife Trust Cley Marshes, Cley beach is also a haven for wildlife.

Dogs can be walked on the shingle beach at Cley and Salthouse throughout the year, but rare ground-nesting birds are often present between April and August. Please keep your dog under close control and walk as near to the sea as possible during this important time.

As well as home to nesting birds during the Spring and Summer months. Cley is popular with walkers at all times of the year.

You can comfortably walk along the beach to Salthouse, pit stop for a coffee or a pint and head back.

Unlike many other Norfolk beaches with hidden sandbanks Cley has a drop from the shingle to the sea.  Which makes it an ideal spot for shore fishing and local fishermen can be found making good use of the beach day and night.

Although not offering any facilities, the village Centre is approximately 1.5km from the car park.

The Norfolk Coast Path runs down Beach Road and along the beach to the east, towards Salthouse a truly beautiful walk, with surrounding views of the marshes and grazing land.
