With vast stretches of secluded sandy beach, Happisburgh beach is a wonderful dog friendly beach with no restrictions whatsoever which is great for all dog lovers.
The most complex fact about Happisburgh is how to pronounce it, “haze-bruh”.
Undoubtedly, the best sight is the without doubt the lighthouse. An iconic red and white lighthouse which dates way back to 1791. The tower stands at an impressive 85ft tall and there are opens days throughout the summer, if you have the stamina to climb the 96 steps (advisable to book in advance).
Coastal erosion is rampant at Happisburgh and over the last 20 years dozens of houses have been lost to the sea as the cliffs crumble. Various attempts have been made to halt the progress of the sea, of which you can see the remains. Suffice to say, if you do decide to throw your towel down on Happisburgh beach then do so a little distance from the cliffs as they may be unstable.
Parking
Thanks to the North Norfolk Pathfinder Project, Happisburgh has a wonderful new Car Park with toilets, and access to the beach via an earth ramp. The car park can be found at the end of Beach Road, and is well signposted from Whimpwell Street that runs through the centre of the village.
