Heacham beach is divided into two. With only a couple of minute’s walk between these golden, sandy beaches you will find North Beach to be the smaller and quieter of the two, and South Beach being a livelier. Offering a varied range of facilities including food outlets and toilets.
This golden, sandy beach is backed by low dunes and there are a number of beach huts to be found along the promenade. It is possible to walk along the promenade all the way to Hunstanton. The lack of restrictions makes this beach quite popular with dog walkers.
There is no lifeguard here, although the water, which shelves gently, has been classified as being of excellent quality. It can appear rather cloudy at times, which is due to tidal movement stirring up sediment.
South Beach
Also known as ‘Stubborn sands’, Heacham South Beach is found along the long stretch of predominantly sandy coastline which runs north from Snettisham.
Public toilets, a café and a gift shop can be found close to the beach.
Sunsets
Although the beach is on the Norfolk East coast it faces West into the bay. This means the sea can be calmer than the open sea of other nearby Norfolk beaches. It also means you can get some spectacular sunsets.
