Overstrand has a wide and sandy beach during low tide. However, at high tide the water comes all the way back to the sea wall. Therefore it is advisable to check tide tables before visiting.
For the car park, look out for the white wooden signs they may take a little bit of searching for, and you can easily miss the turning.
The car park is equipped with public toilets and the beach is accessed via a long, gradually sloping path. Often food vans are parked at the car park, for a tasty snack before embarking down the path to the beach.
You can also pit stop at the Cliff Top Cafe for a bite to eat after hiking back up the path from the beach.
Overstrand beach is located along the Norfolk Coast Path and is an ideal place to begin a coastal walk. The path offers some spectacular cliff-top scenery.
In the village of Overstrand there are cafes, a pub and a village shop. Just along the coast at Sidestrand the parish church was moved back from the sea front during the 19th century to protect it from coastal erosion, although its tower was left at the original cliff-top site.
