Sheringham beach, another of Norfolk’s Blue Flag beaches, is ever popular with families in the summer months, leaving it a little quieter out of the season.
A seaside town with a fishing industry based on crabs and lobsters. Every May the town celebrates them with an aptly named Crab and Lobster Festival, this definitely one not to miss.
Sheringham beach is made up of sand with areas of shingle and larger stones. At low tide there is plenty of golden sand for families to relax and explore the rock pools filled with lots of interesting marine life. But when the tide comes in the beach as if magic, all but disappears.
There’s a promenade which runs along the top of the seawall defences providing the perfect place to walk if you’d rather avoid the beach.
Cafes and restaurants overlook the beach, providing perfect sea views. Lifeguards operate during the summer months and there are public toilets and showers. If you are looking for somewhere to base yourself on the beach or hide from the sun, there are beach huts available for hire.
