Snettisham beach lies just over 3 miles south of Hunstanton and is Norfolk only west facing beach. Meaning it get some of the best sunsets in Norfolk. This area of the coastline is often referred to as the ‘Sunset Coastline’.
Snettisham Beach is a mixture of sand and shingle, it may be less of your typical bucket and spade beach, but it is a little more peaceful than some of the other beaches and the wildlife displays on offer are second to none.
It is more than just a beach, it is a wildlife beach. Backing onto Snettisham Coast Park, with reedbeds, scrub and marshland behind the shingle beach.
During the biggest tides from the late summer onwards tens of thousands of wading birds take flight as the incoming tide pushes them off the vast mudflats. The RSPB refer to this as a ‘whirling wader spectacle’.
Located nearby is the Snettisham Sailing Club, one of the leading watersports clubs on the East coast, with family-friendly, multi-level dinghy fleets, wind and kite surfing, paddleboarding, kayaking and a busy social club.
