Winterton-on-sea beach has the wonderful vast expanse of soft sand and gives a lovely uncrowded and open feel. Meaning you can spread yourself out without being on top of other people.
Overlooked by the graceful white blades of the Wind Farm to one side and low sand dunes to the other. This is a great beach where you can escape from it all, with not an amusement arcade in sight. For all the traditional seaside fun, you need to nip down the coast to Hemsby or Great Yarmouth.
One of the lovely things about Winterton beach is that it doesn’t matter if the tide is in or out, there is always a vast expanse of soft sand on offer.
Just north of Winterton, at Horsey Beach, a colony of grey seals can be regularly seen basking on the beach or popping their heads above the water.
The Village
Once a fishing village, Winterton-on-sea is now a firm holiday favourite with visitors looking to escape the razzle dazzle of some other seaside resorts nearby.
Backed by the beautiful dunes, a nature reserve and a site of special scientific interest, the beach offers acres of golden sand. Even on the hottest summer days there is always plenty of space for children to build their sandcastles.
Here you can enjoy the sound of skylarks singing against a background of waves lapping against the shore.
Sometimes you’ll catch sight of a seal bobbing in the water or lazing on the sand.
If you feel peckish there is the Dunes Cafe, which is popular with visitors and locals alike all through the year
